Whoo! Alright, yeah... uh huh – The Rapture and Shitdisco appreciation post

Sooo, instead of doing this bit about The Rapture as a review of their march 4 gig at the ABC in Glasgow (there is no point, they were fucking amazing and I cant say anything critical, even if I wanted to), its just gonna be a general appreciation post about The Rapture and the band that opened for them at the Glasgow gig; Shitdisco.

I was soooo annoyed when I missed The Rapture/The Presets at liquid room back in the fall so I was super excited when one of my mates form work asked if I was up for joining her this time in Glasgow. We got there with plenty of time to get a few drinks in and nick a poster or 2 off the wall and were ready when Shitdisco took to the stage. We’d both seen them before, sarah at a festival last summer and me on the NME tour with klaxons in October 06, and they proved their worth on home turf this time too. Amazing opening effort, loved it loved it loved it! They were added as MySpace friends pretty much immediately upon return to Edinburgh.


The Rapture picked up where shitdisco left off and delivered 1 hour of pure unadulterated musical perfection. There was not a single person in that crowd not dancing along to everything from ‘house of jealous lovers’ to ‘get myself into it’ and that says so much about that band and their music. And yes, it only took roughly 12 hours after returning to Edinburgh in a slightly drunken state after this gig, one of the best ever, until I invested in both their albums. And I love them.


So there. that was quite a few paragraphs of appreciation. But why force the negativity when these bands are just pure genius? And now im gonna go put on ‘pieces of the people we love’ and dance about my room, singing, screaming, yelling, hollering WHOO! ALRIGHT YEAH...
