last night a DJ saved my life...

Had the shittiest day yesterday, marketing revision was going nowhere, everyone I know was either too busy revising to hang out or still at home for Easter vacation (which, considering it was Easter Monday, would be the logical place to be). The library was depressing, the weather was depressing (although no rain so I suppose I shouldn’t complain too much...) and I was not feeling any positive life-affirming spirit at all.

That was until around 8 o’clock, when I turned on radio 1 and caught the zane lowe show. It was just on in the background but then suddenly I recognised kraftwerk’s ‘autobahn’. That track is not only NEVER played on the radio anymore (so that in itself is huge) but it is also the ultimate tune on the soundtrack to my childhood (my dad had the LP and would blast that track at maximum volume, singing along and jumping about the living room with me and my brother – my mom was not a fan and kept asking him to turn it down :) aahhh, nostalgia...). So right there, zane lowe managed to lift me a little out of all of yesterday’s crap.

He properly sealed the deal when he went on to play AC/DC, the strokes, and the rolling stones’ ‘sympathy for the devil’. I love that such an eclectic and random mix of tunes get airtime, even if it isn’t often enough in my humble opinion.

Yesterday, the timing was spot on, perfect. I needed the release for all the negativity and the music just had that amazing ability to do just that...
